The Academy

Unlock your dogs full potential with expert residential training!

Welcome to The Academy at Madra Dog Training

At The Academy, we do things differently. Rather than a traditional kennel setting, our residential training programme is based in our family home in the heart of Scotland. Here, your dog will live as part of our household—alongside our own well-trained dogs—receiving the care, structure, and attention they truly deserve.

This is not a kennel. This is a home. And your dog will be treated like one of our own.

Luxury Care and 24/7 Attention

Your dog will enjoy one-on-one attention, comfortable indoor living, and meaningful social time—not only with our trainers but also with our own balanced dogs. Whether it’s learning to settle in the home, walk politely through busy streets, or remain calm in public places, everything is designed to reflect your real life back home.

Tailored Behavioural Transformation

From basic obedience to severe aggression and reactivity, our programme is designed to tackle behavioural challenges at their root. With 18 years of hands-on experience, we specialise in complex cases, providing compassionate, consistent training that results in lasting change.

Structure, Balance, and Daily Enrichment

Each day is thoughtfully planned to include training sessions, rest, play, enrichment, and real-life exposure. Your dog will not only work on their behaviour but also enjoy mental stimulation, healthy routines, and the emotional support they need to thrive.

Our Programmes

We offer a range of different residential training programmes to suit a number of different ages, circumstances and training needs. Read the information below to see which residential package would suit you best. Don't worry if you're not sure - we can help you out.

Puppy Academy

Our Puppy Development Package offers your young dog the very best start in life through structured, immersive training in a real home—not a kennel. Puppies live alongside our own well-balanced dogs, learning essential life skills through calm routines, supervised socialisation, and consistent, age-appropriate guidance. Designed for puppies aged 12 weeks to 6 months with appropriate vaccinations, this programme focuses on building foundational manners, confidence, and emotional stability.

Your puppy will develop reliable obedience such as sit, down, stay, recall, and polite lead walking, all taught with increasing distractions to prepare them for real-world scenarios. Crate training and housebreaking are seamlessly integrated into daily life in the home, ensuring long-term success and structure.

With daily outings to towns, shops, and dog-friendly cafés, your puppy will learn to remain calm, focused, and confident amidst environmental noise and social distractions.

Every moment is designed to nurture a well-rounded, resilient dog, equipped to thrive both inside the home and out in the world.

£1200

Foundational Manners

Our Foundation Programme is designed to provide your dog with all the essential training they need to become a calm, confident, and well-balanced companion. Set within our home and integrated into everyday life, this four-week residential stay focuses on teaching reliable obedience, both on and off leash, while developing emotional regulation and resilience.

Dogs in this programme learn foundational manners, impulse control, and how to switch off and settle calmly—skills that are reinforced through daily structure, routine, and real-life exposure. Minor behavioural challenges such as mild reactivity to humans or dogs, shyness, and low-level resource guarding are also addressed with patience and consistency.

Your dog will be carefully socialised with our well-balanced dogs and experience regular public outings to build confidence around environmental distractions like traffic, crowds, cafés, and unfamiliar settings.

Everything is designed to prepare your dog for a peaceful, predictable life with you at home and in the real world.

£1450

Behaviour Rehabilitation

Our Behavioural Rehabilitation Programme is designed for dogs struggling with reactivity, anxiety, or nervousness, offering a calm and consistent environment where they can begin to rebuild trust and confidence.

Set within our home and surrounded by balanced, stable dogs, your dog will experience structured daily routines, patient guidance, and the emotional support needed to overcome their challenges.

The duration of this programme ranges from six to eight weeks, depending on the severity of your dog’s behavioural issues, as we do not believe in rushing the rehabilitation process.

Throughout their stay, your dog will learn foundational manners and reliable obedience both on and off leash, while developing vital emotional regulation skills such as impulse control and learning how to switch off.

Carefully managed socialisation helps build confidence and reduce reactivity, and daily public outings ensure your dog learns to stay calm in a range of real-life environments.

Please note, this programme is not suitable for dogs that have bitten—those cases require our more intensive Severe Behavioural Programme.
